Canton Lions Club - July 25th Meeting


	Canton Lions Club Membership Meeting Minutes Jauary 23, 2012 18:00 hrs Attendance: Sue Baringer, Gene Hammonds, Gloria Hammonds, John Anthony, Nancy Williams, Patrick Williams, Bob Harris, Ron Ziemba, Larry Wegrzyn, Miguel Lopez, John Chew, Bob Boyer, Vivian Pearson, Clarice Killian. Treasurer Report: Club issued the second biannual payment for membership cost to Lions International for 37 members. Membership dues reminder for 2012-2013 fiscal year will be sent during the month of April. Balance for this month on Administrative account is $1853.86 Balance for this month on Activities account is $7610.04 Chamber of Commerce of Canton dues are $200. These dues will be covered. A motion was made to approve the Treasurer Report and it was approved by all. CURRENT BUSINESS Charity Poker: Tournament scheduled for Feb 3, 4 and 5 (Friday, Saturday and Sunday). Need help; still have too many openings in the schedule. If you can help with a shift , please contact Nancy Williams ((313) 410-0467). Continuation of the Charity Poker with Tripp Kings by our club will be evaluated following this event. Placemat Sales Chair. Volunteers are needed to contact stores to get support. This is the largest fundraising of our club. Corn Roast. Based on last year’s success, John Chew and Bob Boyer will co-lead the event. Eyeglasses: This activity will continue to be chaired by John Chew. Gumballs: This activity will continue to be done by John Spencer. John reported offline that some stores have returned the machines back to him. John is looking for our support to find locations for these gumball machines. Eye exams: This activity will continue to be coordinated by Charlie Mott. Euchre Tournament: Location will be Elks Club in Plymouth. Date will be changed due to conflicts with other events. The chairman, Gene Hammonds will determine new date. Nancy Williams will assist by coordinating prizes. Note: March 10 is the Euchre tournament for the Canton Chiefs Wrestling team. Consider attending! Website coordinator: Miguel has been assigned as coordinator for the website. Coordinator is authorized to update and remove outdated content at his discretion. Club leadership: A committee was formed to nominate candidates for officers. This committee includes these members: Patrick Williams, John Anthony, and Bob Harris. Pancake breakfast: Event will continue to be chaired by Lions John Chew and Patrick Williams. NEW BUSINESS: Seedling Books: This organization is looking for sponsors for their Braille bowling event. They need a lane sponsor. Bob Harris made a motion to sponsor a lane up to $150. Patrick Williams seconded the motion and it was approved by all. Donations Budget: This was reviewed during last quarter. Per John Chew’s request, next meeting will include an additional review of the donations budget. Meeting adjourned at 6:58 PM
